Hanami/"cherry-blossom viewing" Japanese tradition, culture

更新日:

Cherry blossoms bloom between late March and April, in Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto.

There are many kinds of cherry blossoms. Somei-yoshino is the most famous one in Tokyo.

We enjoy eating and drinking with family, friends or co-workers under the fully bloomed

cherry blossoms.

Many people are enjoying the cherry blossoms in full bloom.

People enjoy Yozakura, the illuminated cherry blossom at night.

I recommend you to see it because it’s fantastic and very beautiful.

Every spring, many parks get crowded with viewers and street stalls.

Sometimes people stay overnight at the park to get a good spot for cherry blossom viewing.

In the Japanese mentality, this short period in full bloom and the beauty

of these cherry blossoms are often metaphorically compared to human life.

Sakura reminds us how human life is short and fragile, but then again, so beautiful.
